Economic analysis finds Amendment 64 would produce at least $60 million in annual revenue and savings – could top $100 million in 5 years
The Colorado Center for Law and Policy released a report today highlighting the immense economic benefits of passing Amendment 64.
According to the report, passage of Amendment 64 would produce at least $60 million in annual revenue and savings, with the potential to top $100 million in annual revenues within 5 years. Amendment 64 would also create hundreds of jobs, mostly in construction, and generate tens of millions of dollars annually for Colorado public school construction.
This is information every Colorado voter needs to see before they cast their vote for Amendment 64. Click here to help us spread the word about this new, crucial report.
The analysis found that passage of Amendment 64 would:
-
initially result in $60 million annually in combined revenue and savings for state and local governments in Colorado, which could double to more than $100 million within the first five years of implementation;
- save local and state law enforcement officials more than $12 million in the first year of operation;
- generate $24 million annually in state revenue for the Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) capital construction program; and
- create more than 350 new jobs, the majority of which will be in the construction industry.
Generating millions of dollars for the state, creating new jobs, and supporting our schools is a huge benefit to the state, but it is not the only reason to support regulating marijuana like alcohol. It will also enhance public safety by removing marijuana from the underground market, which is currently steering all of the profits toward drug cartels and other criminal enterprises.
