Group Trying to Get 2006 Marijuana Initiative

Just like in 2002, the Committee to Regulate and Control Marijuana is working to amend the Nevada Constitution. It wants strict regulations and taxation for adults to possess limited amounts of marijuana meaning, one ounce or less.

The campaign manager for the committee's 2006 statewide initiative says, instead of drug money being used to finance gangs and dealers, it will be transferred into a tightly-regulated tax market, creating revenue for the state.

In 2002, more than 60-percent of Nevada voters opposed a similar initiative.
